vs. "Hot Tub" Knowing how consumers categorically refer to your product is vital to the communication process. Consumers have been polled on this issue and the preference for "hot tub" continues to increase. In a recent survey, the following syntactic leanings were found:
Yet it's interesting to note regional differences.
While 80% of the rest of the country calls them hot
tubs, only 62% of owners in the West refer to them as such.
This is noteworthy because states like Washington, Oregon
and California are the cradle of civilization for this category
and there is a greater tradition there. (Western
owners are significantly more likely to refer to them as spas
or even as Jacuzzis.) |
